Baking bread and bringing jobs
Bringing new products to rural communities can create jobs for our young…
Currently bread in the Ruhengeri area is produced in Musanze. The Nyange and Kinigi sectors do not produce bread locally. At the same time, many young people from extremely poor families cannot afford the opportunity to earn a University degree. By training these young people to produce bread in their local sectors, they can support their communities and gain employment.
We want to provide opportunities for all young people in Rwanda to improve their living standards, whether they achieved higher education or not. Those who do not get the chance to continue their studies often cannot gain employment. The Youth-Hope project will help our youth to recognise that combining their efforts, sharing ideas, and putting together their different talents and skills, can help them to solve the issue of unemployment. It is a pathway to widen opportunities to help them meet both social and economic needs for themselves and the entire community, whilst at the same time solving the shortage of bakery processing in the Nyange and Kingi sectors.
The bakery will be located in the Nyange sector and will employ 60 local youth, with all proceeds going back to these individuals. SACOLA will appoint management and appropriate training for the project so it will operate effectively and efficiently.
