SACOLA Project Pipeline
At SACOLA, we are constantly looking at ways to improve our community. Below, we highlight the projects which we are looking to launch. If you are interested in donating to any of these projects, then please click on the “Donate Now” button to access the donation page.
Smart Rooms
IT has proved to be one of the most pervasive technologies of recent years and many agree we now live in the information age. Basic IT skills are a requirement for many educational, job and business opportunities. Our aim is to provide IT training facilities that also double up as “Smart Rooms” - facilities for people to access information on the internet.
PEARLS partnership with SACOLA
PEARLS is the Program to Encourage Active and Rewarding Lives, which originated in the Unites States. The initiative aims to bring mental health care into local communities. In Rwanda, people of all ages have burdens to bear, originating from the reality of living in poverty as well as the painful history of our country. We want to improve access for people to deal with these hardships.
Youth-Hope Bakery Processing
Currently bread in the Ruhengeri area is produced in Musanze. The Nyange and Kinigi sectors do not produce bread locally. At the same time, many young people from extremely poor families cannot afford the opportunity to earn a university degree. By training these young people to produce bread in their local sectors, they can support their communities and gain employment.
🌱 SACOLA’s Vision for the Future: Upcoming Projects Pipeline
As part of our long-term commitment to empowering local communities and protecting the environment around the Volcanoes National Park, SACOLA is proud to share its pipeline of forward-looking development projects. These initiatives reflect our mission to drive social, economic, and environmental transformation in the region:
1. SACOLA Complex Office Infrastructure
A modern facility to serve as the heart of SACOLA’s operations—this infrastructure will house administrative offices and essential services, fostering improved coordination, efficiency, and community support.
2. Community-Based Microfinance Initiative
Rooted in the successful AMATSINDA Y'IBIMINA savings groups of Nyange and Kinigi, this microfinance project aims to financially empower local communities, helping individuals start small businesses, invest in agriculture, and achieve economic independence.
3. Greenhouse Farming Project
Targeting smallholder farmers, this initiative will provide education and infrastructure for greenhouse cultivation. Based on SACOLA's research, there's a high demand from lodges and hotels in Musanze for quality local produce. This project will bridge that gap while boosting farmers’ income and food security.
4. Modern Technical School
To address youth unemployment and skills gaps, SACOLA plans to build a technical school focused on practical, hands-on training. The goal is to equip young people with relevant skills that meet current job market demands in trades such as construction, mechanics, hospitality, and ICT.
5. Clean Water Access for Communities
SACOLA is committed to improving health and quality of life by providing safe and reliable clean water to underserved rural communities surrounding the park.
6. Buffalo Wall Rehabilitation Project
To reduce human-wildlife conflict, particularly with animals from Volcanoes National Park, SACOLA will rehabilitate and extend the existing buffalo wall. This will enhance the safety of both local residents and wildlife.
7. Strategic International Partnerships
We aim to form collaborations with global organizations that share our values and mission. These partnerships will strengthen our capacity to deliver meaningful impact for our communities and environment.
Together for a Sustainable Future
These upcoming projects are steps toward SACOLA’s broader vision: a thriving, self-reliant community living in harmony with nature. Stay connected with us as we bring these ideas to life—for the people and the park.
