Precious PEARLS in mental health
A safe place to talk is the first step to healing…
PEARLS is the Program to Encourage Active and Rewarding Lives, which originated in the Unites States. The initiative aims to bring mental health care into local communities. In Rwanda, people of all ages have `burdens to bear, originating from the reality of living in poverty as well as the painful history of our country. We want to improve access for people to deal with these hardships.
We are looking to launch the PEARLS program at SACOLA by training individuals as counsellors who can help the local community in their home settings. Counsellors receive the greatest degree and depth of training and are trained by those closely involved in PEARLS research and technical assistance activities. The training includes a dynamic balance of didactic instruction, demonstration sessions, group discussion and practice exercises. The through in-depth conceptual explanations, skill building and in-person constructive feedback from PEARLS experts during the interactive elements of PEARLS Training, allows individuals to become proficient in conducting PEARLS.
This type of training and proficiency will bring a service to local communities which is in desperate need. By donating to this cause, you can help fund the training of one of our counsellors.
PEARLS Program to support high quality Education of children from vulnerable families.
We warmly invite you to support a meaningful cause that continues to impact lives in our community.
This initiative was started by the late Marty Madden, a beloved brother of Margie Ward, whose compassion and commitment brought hope to a group of vulnerable women. Today, we seek your support to sustain and grow the work he so passionately began. Your contribution will help these women build resilience, improve their livelihoods, and regain dignity.
In addition, we are raising funds to support Ms. Seraphine Kampororo, a vulnerable mother in need of assistance for shelter and the education of her two children: Manzi Hilaire (10 years old) and Kezie Hilarie Pamela (8 years old). Your donation will directly contribute to providing them with a safe home and access to education—essentials for a brighter and more secure future.
Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Together, we can honor Marty Madden’s legacy and create lasting change in the lives of those who need it most.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
